Dear friends of Choeur Maha, we have big news.

Our dearest Solène has been selected to do a master's degree in musical pedagogy at the Institut Jaques-Dalcroze in Geneva, Switzerland for two years.

We will miss her dearly and at the same time we’re so happy for her! We are proud of her and excited to soak up all she’s learned when she comes back.

This opens up a place. We would love to welcome another leader and artistic director to inspire and direct us.

Job Posting: Choir Director

Choeur Maha is a bilingual amateur women’s choir, SSAA, of 30 members with a varied repertoire of world, classical, popular and experimental music. The repertoire is chosen each year by a repertoire committee made up of choir members in collaboration with artistic director.
We are non-profit organization and registered charity with an administrative council. Choeur Maha has  existed for 27 years. 

Our choir director will be absent for a prolonged period. We are looking for a woman-identified director for an interim period of two years.

Schedule
Practices Tuesday night from 7 to 9:30 on the Plateau for 30 weeks, plus two weekends of intensive rehearsals; One Sunday in April; one complete weekend for concerts; occasional additional practices and gigs over the course of the year.

Profile
BFA or MFA in music and/or choral direction (or the equivalent). 
Wide knowledge of vocal techniques, languages and styles. 
Significant experience in choral conducting or vocal ensembles 
Experience in musical arranging is an asset; experience with staging is also an asset. 
Functional bilingualism is a necessity.
We are looking for someone who brings musical richness and skills, openness of spirit, organizational skills, and personality to a strong and established community of women musicians. 

Remuneration
Salary negotiable according to qualifications and experience.

Interview with choir council members: July 10 7 to 9 pm
Auditions with choir: July 16, late afternoon/early evening.

Audition Process
5 minute warmup
Direction of one song from the candidate’s submission of 3 to 5 songs, with scores provided by the candidate from the submission of 3 pieces. (10-15 mins)
Direction of one song selected by the choir from the previous year’s repertoire, with scores provided to the candidate one week in advance. (10-15 mins)
