diXXit MAHA!: Exhibition & Concert, Dec 4 at Ukrainian Federation
Choeur Maha, a thirty member women’s choir, under the artistic direction of Kathy Kennedy, presents “diXXit MAHA!”, a special concert to kick off their 20th anniversary celebrations! On December 4, at 7:30, at the Ukrainian Federation, 5213, rue Hutchison, the concert will feature special appearances by Florence K, a refreshing talent who just released the last chapter of her Cuban trilogy, Havana Angels, and Linda Morrison, one of Canada’s best singer-songwriters.
“It’s a reciprocal thing- these crazy goddesses have always challenged me to push the limits of our music as much as I challenge them to never lose sight of why we are together; to keep it real.” Kathy Kennedy
« La Couverture vivante »™ (5:30pm): toward a dialogue of peace. Just before the concert starts, Chœur Maha invites the public to a cocktail-exhibition where La Couverture vivante™, an activist quilt project will be on display for the first time in Quebec. Wine and snacks will be served for the occasion. La Couverture vivante™ is an international quilt collaboration, composed of women’s self-portraits, advocating peace and security around the world. Montrealers will be the first in Quebec to see this unique work, composed of 1012 squares – and growing! Creating a dialogue about peace is one of the artists’ goals. Come and be part of the conversation!
Ticket – $25 (reg.)/$22 (student & senior) for “combo” ticket, for cocktail and concert; pre-selling: $22 (reg.)/$20 (student & senior) – $15 (reg.)/$12 (student & senior) for concert only, pre-selling: $12 (reg.)/$10 (student & senior).
